Neighborhood

Walcha was the first area to be discovered in the New England region. It was on the route taken by the explorer John Oxley and reached on 8th September, 1818. He named the Apsley River after the Secretary of State for the colonies, Lord Apsley. On the doorstep: Oxley Wild Rivers National Park with Apsley and Tia Falls, sweeping granite gorges, and the Walcha MTB Trails’ pine-forest singletrack—plus quiet country roads and famed gravel loops rolling straight from town. From sunrise rides to waterfall walks, Red Hill is your New England High Country basecamp.

Guest Access

Cabin #1 is an elevated structure requiring 4-stairs to be climbed to access the living area. The entire living area, bedroom and ensuite are on a single level without barriers to mobility. There are handrails on both sides of the stairs, but no wheelchair or other mobility challenged access points. a more detailed picture can be provided for guest consideration upon request.

Luxurious, comfortable with everything needed for a relaxing short stay. Lovely small touches - kitchen accessories, multiple teas & coffee machine, in a very quiet country setting, an easy short drive from town.

An absolutely incredible space! I arrived in the afternoon to a warm, bright cabin with the best quality furnishings and fit-out I think I’ve ever experienced in any kind of accommodation. The absolute serenity of the location was only beaten by what might be the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Not a dislike, but a suggestion. It would have been awesome to have been able to pre-order some snacks or food to be available on arrival (like a charcuterie board perhaps), as I was doing a motorcycle trip and couldn’t pack food with me. I knew the food options before I booked, so as I said, a suggestion/wish, not a critique.

Why would you pay for a motel when this little gem is only a few dollars more. THE cleanest accommodation I’ve stayed in without mortgaging my house. Will differently be staying there whenever in Walcha. Nothing to dislike. Clean, quiet and only a few k’s from town.

Loved this cosy, comfortable cabin out in the countryside. Well equipped for self catering and a deck to sit out with a glass of wine and watch the Angus roaming around 😍

Very close to Walcha. Beautiful setting. Very private. Easy to deal with the manager. Very comfortable bed. Exceptionally clean. Bigger towels would be nice. The Wifi didn't work (could connect but no service), however there was a big storm that night which may have been a factor.

Perfectly functional, peaceful, clean, comfortable, and pretty. An incredibly restful and refreshing stopover, on our long road trip. I would happily stay here again. The cabin is well-stocked with plenty of liquid soaps, eco dish liquid, milk, etc. We did not want for anything during our stay. Bed was 10/10 comfy, plus dual electric blankets, reverse cycle a/c, loads of windows for letting fresh air through. We did not find the Walcha dining options to be spectacular, so I would probably grab dinner at Armidale next time, before heading to the cabin.
